Opus Eponymous by Ghost

To start, I will say that I am a pretty big fan of Ghost. I have not exactly been around since the start, but I have been a fan since Meliora. I think that Ghost is an absolutely brilliant band that blends old school rock with modern metal, like conjoined twins with skull shaped face paint on. Furthermore, I can easily see them going down as one of the greats, like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, and more. I can very easily see them get inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in the near future. So, I am going to review every ghost album including the live album to show you why you should become a part of the clergy’s fanbase. Without further ado, let’s begin the review of Ghost’s first studio album, Opus Eponymous.     1.Deus Culpa Deus culpa is an atmospheric instrumental designed to open the album. This introduction creates a very eerie atmosphere. It definitely sets the stage for what’s to come. It’s dark and m...

Explositive by Kontrust

1. Dance The album opens up strong with this song. The main riff of the song is badass and gets me headbanging immediately. This song, like most Kontrust songs, is split up into the male parts and the female parts. The male singer's name is Stefan and the female singer's name is Agata. Stefan did the verses on this song and Agata did the chorus. The first verse wasn't bad, but the second verse was straight up badass. Agata nails the chorus with catchy lyrics that maintain the metal sound. This song is definitely a +1. 2. Why This song is weird as hell. The verses are whatever, but the chorus is amazing. It's repetitive as hell, but it gets me headbanging all the same. Still, it definitely feels like filler. Damn good filler, but filler nonetheless. I'd give this one a very positive 0. 3. Just propaganda This song pairs a message that I like with an amazing sound. The verses of this song are metal as hell. The guitar is raw and Stefan adds a lot to that sound by...

Pre-album thoughts on Kontrust

Kontrust is a very interesting band. I discovered their wonderful and unique music from a recommendation on the side bar of a YouTube video. I was listening to "fucked with an anchor" by alestorm. A band I will get around to, I assure you. The so-called "pirate-metal" band is quite exhilarating to listen to for pirate lovers and rum lovers alike. That said, we aren't here to talk about Alestorm. Back on topic. The first song I listened to by Kontrust was the hilarious "sock n doll" music video. I was convinced it was a parody of metal music due to the nature of the video. Eventually, I found myself coming back to the song for it's catchy lyrics, fun guitar riffs, and talented vocals. From there, I listened to a few more of their songs. A few are from this album. Still, most of these are completely new to me. I'm excited to hear more of this band. That said, I can easily see the sound this band has get old very quickly if each song doesn't ...

I'm going to be doing album reviews. I'm an amateur. I don't pretend to be some expert on music theory or anything like that. I'm going to listen to an album song by song. I'm going to explain why I like or don't like a particular song. Rank the songs from best to worst as well as giving them a rating of +1, 0, or -1. 1 means I would actively seek that song out. 0 means I wouldn't seek it out, but I wouldn't skip it if it came on. -1 means I dislike it and would skip it if it came on.  At the end, I will grade the album on a scale unique to my reviews. The worst score: I've bled out The next score up: My ears are bleeding The middling score: I'm Switzerland The next score up: My neck hurts The best score: I broke My neck
